Adjusting & Grandparents

We are slowly but surely adjusting to having two little ones in the family. Sadie absolutely ADORES her sister. Almost a little too much. The first thing out of her mouth after every nap and in the morning when she gets up is "baby?". She has to know what her baby is doing and where she's at all the time. She will often ask to hold her by holding both her hands under her chin, palms up. It's adorable! I tried catching it on video, but didn't succeed. Here she is holding her baby.

Sadie feels the need to be close to Lilianna whenever she's awake. She commonly brings her blanky or a book to snuggle with me and Lilianna when I'm holding her. It's pretty cute until she tries loving on her a little too much. :)

We recently had a visit from my mom (Mammy Cako as Sadie calls her). It was great having her here to help after Lilianna was born and she was great entertainment for Sadie. She taught her how to dip and twirl while dancing (one of Sadie's new favorite things to do). Here they are dipping and twirling.

After my mom's visit, Josh's folks came down for a few days. Sadie sure enjoyed her Mimi and Bumpa and we enjoyed their visit too!

We had some beautiful weather while they were here and we all enjoyed some time outside playing in the yard. Bumpa helped Sadie bat the ball and Shelby was our catcher. :) Of course we had to fight her to get the ball back, but she did a great job of catching.

Lilianna Ruby

Our second Leetle Babuski has FINALLY arrived. After following in her older sister's footsteps and waiting an extra 2 weeks to make her arrival, she finally came on Tuesday, August 25 at 12:29 p.m. She weighed in at 8 lbs 4 oz and 21 inches long. Only a smidgen smaller than Sadie at birth.

Labor and delivery went well, though longer than I anticipated. Contractions started at 6 p.m. Monday evening and we went to the hospital around 1 a.m. She took her pokey little time arriving there too, but finally she did without a c-section and all natural. Kicked my butt, but the recovery on the other end has been SO MUCH BETTER!

Lilianna has a sister who ADORES her. Sadie has been so sweet to her. When Josh asked her on Thursday if she wanted to go see the baby (they were coming to get us from the hospital), Sadie ran into our bedroom and looked into the pack 'n play looking for the baby. She was excited all the way to the hospital. As soon as we got home she wanted to hug and kiss her and be as close as she could to her before we could even get her out of the car seat. :)


Sadie stayed with our neighbors (who we call our surrogate grandparents to Sadie) while I delivered. They brought her Tuesday evening to meet her little sister and this is about how it went. She hadn't had any naps that day and was a little thrown by Momma being in a hospital bed, but she did really well all things considered.



She loves to "help" with the baby all she can. Here she is "helping" Daddy change Lilianna's diaper.

Sadie's also very concerned when the baby cries. Here she is trying to figure out how to pacify the baby when she was crying.



We've had such beautiful weather since we got home and we've been enjoying it out on our patio as much as possible. Here's Lilianna enjoying the swing.

Here is her first bath. Something she wasn't very excited about AT ALL. Sadie was very concerned about why she was crying and tried giving her a rubber ducky to make her happy. :)

We haven't seen any evidence of jealousy with Sadie since Lilianna arrived, with the exception of "grandma" Donna next door. Donna was holding Lilianna and Sadie decided she needed to be as close as she could to both of them. It was pretty funny.

Our little Sadie is no longer a baby. She has already grown up so much since the baby's arrival. She now looks like a tank next to her little sister. She continues to be a little entertainer as evidenced by her sunglasses episode the other day. A friend of ours gave us a bag of sunglasses and Sadie loved playing with them. She even figured out how to put them on her nose the right way. She felt it necessary to pucker her lips every time in her attempt to keep them on her face. It was pretty funny. She's also learned how to dunk cookies this week (compliments of Daddy's teaching). Here she is dunking cookies with Daddy for the first time.

We are definitely busier these days. It was so strange when I referred to the girls as "the kids". Kind of an adjustment to realize we're parents to more than one now. We are definitely enjoying both of them! I've actually been really enjoying having a newborn again. Even though I don't get much sleep at night, she brings so much joy and she's such a good baby that it's been a very enjoyable adjustment to make. We are so blessed!

New Baby & Favorite Games

Sadie has become VERY interested in babies lately. She loves to look at them, pat them, give them toys and check out their toys. :) She is so sweet to them and it makes us excited for her to meet her own little baby sister. She's also very enamored with the pack 'n play set up in our room all ready for the new baby. I told her as I was setting it up that it was for the baby and a few days later she related to daddy (all by herself while pointing to the pack 'n play) "baby". She likes getting up in it, and the other day Josh laid her in it and pretended that she was the new baby. This is the photo evidence of what it turned into (little bonnet and all). :)

These are just a couple of Sadie favorite games to play with Daddy when he comes home. They're usually the same every day. First she grabs the blanket and hollers at him until he throws it over her head, and the game begins...

This is her second favorite game to play. Daddy gets on the floor and Sadie climbs on top. She used to be satisfied with just sitting or laying on top of him, but now she's graduated to attempting to balance on him. She thinks it's hilarious when she falls off.

Yes, we're pretty sure she's got Daddy wrapped very tightly around her little finger. She loves it when he comes home and I so enjoy watching her delight when she realizes that he's home. What a priceless treasure these little ones are and such a good reminder to me of what unconditional love looks like!

Wow! Can you believe it's finally working!?

After way too long and hours of frustration. The blog is finally allowing uploads again. Whew! Life has been rather exhausting lately (mostly due to being at the end of pregnancy) so I've not done as well at taking photos and videos lately. However, here are a couple of new fun videos of the Leetle Babuski.

Josh gave Sadie a bath the other night and she came streaking out of the bathroom with her towel over her head, shreaking with delight. She loves running around the house with things over her head (crazy kid). It was all pretty funny until she ran into the corner of the cupboard, then it wasn't so fun anymore. Here she is enjoying her naked freedom after bath time.

I made the mistake of putting Sadie on my back the other day and riding "horsey" with her. After getting a taste of that fun, she decided we needed to do it some more, however, I quickly discovered that "horsey" is not a fun game for a mamma who's 9 months pregnant. So we had to wait for Daddy to play that again. Here she is going for her first horsey ride on Daddy. Oh what fun that was!

She is definitely Daddy's little girl. She looks forward to his arrival home from work every day and insists he gives her his undivided attention for play as soon as he gets home. It is such a joy to watch them together! She continues to give us lots of laughs at her funny little antics.

We continue to try and figure out what the next step for us is, as far as Josh's job is concerned. His plan at this point is to apply with the Louisville Police Dept and see if he gets hired on there. He went riding with a friend of his who's a cop here in town this past weekend and thoroughly enjoyed himself. It's definitely the kind of work he was cut out to do. We continue to pray that God will open the right doors for us.

Still no baby as I write this. My due date is Wednesday and I'm praying this one doesn't poke around an extra 2 weeks like her older sister did. I'm feeling like I'm in a constant state of fatigue these days and definitely ready to have this little one!

Life these days consists of waiting for the new arrival, entertaining a busy 17 mo old, working on selling four-wheeler parts to make ends meet and the daily grind for Josh of job, lawn mowing and pulling parts off of four-wheelers. Hopefully we'll have exciting news soon!

Iowa Update

Sorry it's been so long since I posted. It hasn't been working to upload pictures and videos so I've just left it a lone for now. Still haven't figured out why I can't upload stuff, but I can write and so here is the latest.

We got a call today from Iowa saying that, though Josh had the job as a state patrol officer with them, due to budget issues they've canceled the academy all together and will not be having another one for 1 1/2 - 2 years. At which time he would have to start the process all over again, but it would be indicated on his file that he was offered the job this time, but just wasn't able to attend the academy. It's been a pretty big blow as we really were expecting this to work out. However, we know God is in control and he will open the next door for us. We're praying it happens soon as finances are being affected in all of this too.

Josh has a couple of options here in Louisville he can pursue in the following months so we will probably do that initially and see what happens. Either way, doesn't look like we'll be going anywhere any time soon.

On the home front... Sadie continues to grow like a little weed and she's really working hard at saying new words. She continues to be a constant source of joy to us.

We're rapidly approaching the arrival of Leetle Babuski #2 and are anxious for her arrival. I had a Dr. appointment yesterday and she's head down and in place to come as soon as she drops down. I'm 70% effaced and 2 cm dialated so that is good news, though I am fully prepared to be stuck at that for a few more weeks. I'm trying not to get my hopes up in thinking she'll come early. :) We're at 38 weeks now so she can come any time.

Well, that's the latest on the Voigt home-front for now. Since I can't post pictures and videos here yet I've started putting more on my facebook account. If you've got an account and aren't friends with us, please shoot us a request, we'd love to add you.

Words, Toilet and Helping Mamma

I was baking bread this week and Sadie was clinging to my legs and being generally needy, so I plopped her up on the countertop so she could watch the mixer knead the dough. She didn't find the mixer terribly interesting, but she found the spice shelf and the container of kitchen utensils VERY exciting. Here she is "helping" me make bread.

We've also had a very exciting week with the big girl toilet. She HATED it when I would set her on the toilet just a couple of weeks ago. Now she runs into the bathroom and hauls up her little seat and begs to sit on it. So funny! She finds it to be a very exciting event now. Problem is, she doesn't know why she's on there. :) I think she just likes to pull apart the toilet paper square she gets allotted to her each time and play with her bath toys. We did, however, have a successful potty time just a couple of days ago. She woke up dry from her nap so I set her on the toilet right away and she went potty. I still don't think she knows what happened, but I was sure excited (and completely shocked). :) Here she is enjoying potty time.

Sadie has officially spoken her first word. The word she chose, "uh oh". Why? I don't know, but it sure is funny. She can also say "da da" for daddy, "bah bah" for mama and she says "baby" pretty well, but sometimes still gets confused on that one. She usually pulls up my shirt and points to my belly button when she says it. :) She only says the words when prompted so we're still waiting for her to use them in the proper context on her own. I've been working with her on some signing as well so we can communicate in something other than screams and howls when she wants something. She's been cutting 2 back moler teeth the past week so it's been a little rough around here. Now she's coming down with some kind of sniffly sneezy cold so the poor thing has been rather unhappy the past couple of days. Never a dull moment! We are enjoying her so much though, crankiness and all. She's growing too fast. :(

Finally! Another Blog Post!

For those of you who've been waiting for another blog post. I finally got this stupid thing to work. I've been trying to post for the past week and this blog site has been messing up every time. Still can't get videos to upload, but I at least got some pictures to work. So, here is the latest.

I had a church event to go to a couple weeks back so Josh and Sadie decided it was time for their first daddy/daughter date. They went to Steak 'n Shake for supper and then went shopping at Sears. Josh said Sadie ate like a horse and enjoyed the whole experience tremendously. She got to ride around on his shoulders while they shopped at Sears and babbled excitedly to him all the way home. She sure loves hanging out with daddy! Here they are getting ready to leave for their date.

Sadie also had her first zoo experience last Friday. I wasn't sure how she'd handle the big animals, but she loved every minute of it. She pointed and babbled at all the animals and went right up to the goats to pet them. Wasn't scared a bit.

Petting the friendly goats. She thought they were great! Josh's cousin, Melissa is in KY for a couple of months doing some research for school. She's in Lexington, which is an hour and a half from us, so she's been coming to spend the weekends with us since she got here. Sadie loves her and squeals with excitement now when she sees her. She thinks she's her own personal play thing. :) She loves swinging on the hammock and found it especially exciting with cousin Melissa, espcially since she got to hold and play with her cell phone while they swung.

Still no further news on Iowa. We're staying busy parting out 4-wheelers and selling them on ebay to bring in the extra we need each month to make budget. It's been keeping us VERY busy, especially Josh. I get to do the fun ebay posts and help with printing labels and shipping boxes. We're thankful for God's provision for us in this way.

I'm staying busy encouraging my little garden to grow, entertaining a very busy 15-month-old, creating meal plans and cooking them, along with a multitude of other household chores and responsibilities. I love every minute of it most days. :) Everything seems to be progressing well with the pregnancy, with the exception of a not-so-good glucose test on Monday. I have to go back next Wednesday for a 3 hour test to make sure I don't have gestational diabetes. I'm praying it comes back negative this time.

Well, I think that about sums things up for now. Sorry it took so long to get this post up. Hopefully this crazy blog site will start working for videos soon.
